GIG REPORT: KON-TEMPT @ THE BEACH PARTY Thanks to everyone who attended Friday's No Knives Better Lives Inverclyde Beach Party.

Almost 1000 young people from across Inverclyde celebrated the summer and showed their support for the No Knives, Better Lives campaign at the Better Lives Inverclyde Beach Party which took place at the Waterfront in Greenock on Friday night (14th August)

Hundreds of the under-18s who attended the event signed the Better Lives Pledge Wall, backing the anti knife crime initiative which has been running in Inverclyde over the summer. They also completed surveys about their thoughts on knife crime in a special consultation run by the Speak Up Inverclyde Youth group.

Everyone who signed the Pledge Wall was given a special No Knives tshirt which featured a logo and slogan created by members of the youth apprentice scheme The Recruit.

Clyde 1 DJ George Bowie welcomed the party goers to the event, introducing a short film about knife crime before donning a No Knives tshirt to play his set.

Breakdance crew The Flying Jalapenos gave the crowd a taste of their moves and added their names to the Pledge Wall. DJ and remixer DJ Kontempt took over the final hour of the event and also gave his backing to the campaign.

Pictures and videos will be appearing soon so keep your eyes peeled!
